Get to Know Us! Charlie Currie
Submitted by Mike Tarrant, CFP® on October 7th, 2019
We're kicking off football season with a Team Tarrant Q&A! Get to know our paraplanner, Charlie Currie. Just remember, no matter who you're pulling for, you can always count on us.
Q: Favorite SEC Football Team?
A: GO DAWGS! I’m a University of Georgia alum and former Redcoat Band Member.
Q: Favorite Game Day snack?
A: Roasted Buffalo Wings from Taco Mac are hard to beat.
Q: What do you enjoy most about working with Team Tarrant?
A: I think what I most enjoy is being able to make a significant contribution to a client’s plan. I like knowing that when the plan is implemented, it can help people work towards reaching their goals and dreams. Things like putting kids through college, making weddings happen, protecting assets, and helping people exit gracefully from the businesses they’ve built. It’s very rewarding to me, watching our clients enjoy that next stage of life they’ve saved for, and knowing I played a role in it.”
Q: What does a Paraplanner do, exactly?
A: I help Mike collect, analyze, and organize the information that makes up our client’s financial plans. It’s a team effort, with Mike supervising the details from start to finish.
Q: Dogs or cats?
A: DAWGS!
Q: Why do you think real financial planning is important?
A: Financial planning is a lot like traveling – it’s a bad idea to take a big trip without knowing where you’re going. You can’t just show up and expect things to go well. The same is true for retirement - you have to sit down and plan it all out because it’s complicated. And most people don’t want to dedicate the time to learn the ins and outs of financial planning – that’s where a good advisor and staff comes in. It’s our job to listen to what clients really want, help create a roadmap, and then look for blind spots along the way. It makes the trip so much smoother!
Q: What’s on your Vacation Bucket List?
A: A Scandinavian cruise.
Q: Describe a typical night at home with your family.
A: I have two boys – Issac is 5 and Nathan is 1 – and Issac is old enough to help a little bit. He loves helping his little brother! When I get home dinner is usually ready, like right away or soon after, and after that, my wife, Jessica, and I are focused on getting everyone to bed on time – that’s on a weeknight. On the weekends, we have some hiking trails about a mile from our house, so when the weather cooperates, we like to get outside.
